Both Deceased Students Identified in the Ivy League School Incident as Police Continue Hunt for Killer.

Two students who died in the recent violent attack at Brown University were being remembered Monday – as a manhunt for their killer continued following the discharge by authorities in Rhode Island of the single suspect of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was called “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which honored her memory at a ceremony on Sunday.

Cook was the vice-presidency of Brown’s branch of the College Republicans organization, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed words of sorrow on social media, saying in part: “There are no words. Keeping in mind her loved ones and companions, particularly her mother and father.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The second fatality was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the Ivy League university, family members said.

The victim's identification was confirmed by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. His ambitions were lofty of becoming a neurosurgeon and assisting patients,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a online post.

What Happened

An additional nine individuals were hurt in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Officials stated on Sunday evening that a 24-year-old male taken into custody in a raid at a Hampton Inn about 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was being released.

“We have a murderer out there,” stated the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you have to regroup and head another way, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”

Community Anxiety

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “We know that this is likely to cause renewed concern for our community”.

The shooter discharged a weapon inside a room in the engineering facility on Saturday afternoon, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm pistol, a law enforcement official told the media outlet.

Police that searched the lodging recovered a pair of pistols and two loaded 30-round magazines when the individual was taken into custody, as was reported.

The Wounded Victims

Among those wounded, one student was discharged from care, stated Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in grave but unchanging health, and another was critically ill, police said on Sunday.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the student's death in a tribute. “We extend our sincere condolences to Mr Umurzokov’s family, companions, and schoolmates and grieve for of his promising future.”

Saturday’s killings at Brown, the seventh oldest in the US university with about 7,300 undergraduate and three thousand graduate students, occurred during one of at least 392 shooting incidents reported in the US so far in this year, according to statistics. Monday was the 349th day of the year.
