Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with notable success and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
