President Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Injured Guard Soldiers to the Presidential Residence

Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the presidential home.

He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Event

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Vigils across the state have taken place in their memory.

White House Call

The president said he’s proposed a White House visit for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president told journalists. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Support

Community members gathered over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to assist policing efforts in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“She was the kind of student that teachers wished for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the principal of her alma mater, stated to the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always eager to support those in need.”

Memorial details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Actions and Government Revisions

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The event caused the Trump administration to suspend asylum processing and temporarily stop granting entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a resident of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, according to the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Bondi told the program that she also intended to meet with the family.

Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with excellence, per the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” he told the audience at the service. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
