Citizens have gathered across the country to commemorate the second anniversary since the Hamas-led attack on that fateful day in October 2023, as negotiations proceeded in Egypt over an end to the war in the Gaza Strip.

The incident resulted in over 1,200 people killed and 251 others captured back to Gaza as captives. It was the uniquely deadliest day for Jews since the World War II.

Israel reacted by initiating a defensive operation in Gaza which has claimed in excess of 67,000 people, as reported by the region's Hamas-run health ministry. Its figures are seen as accurate by the United Nations and other world agencies.

"The bloodthirsty enemies have caused great damage, but they have not defeated us," the leader added on Tuesday.

He also vowed to "achieve all the goals of the war: the release of all the captured, the removal of the Hamas administration and the guarantee that Gaza will not create a threat to Israel".

Memorial Gatherings Across Israel

The government authorities postponed official commemorations until mid-October - after the end of the religious holiday season - but events still took place around the country on that day.

A commemorative event for the loved ones of Israeli citizens who died in the Hamas incident was conducted in the coastal city. Arranged by the victims' relatives, it was broadcast across Israeli television channels.

A period earlier, a silent tribute was held around the country.

Negotiation Meetings in Egypt

Meanwhile, the conflicting parties' representatives met in the North African coastal city of Sharm el-Sheikh for a second day of third-party negotiations to examine the conditions of the plan.

A prominent Palestinian official knowledgeable about the negotiations revealed that an evening round of indirect talks began at 19:00 Cairo time.

The representative said the day's discussions concluded without concrete outcomes, due to conflicting views over the suggested Israeli pullout plans from Gaza and over assurances Hamas seeks to make certain Israel does not recommence fighting after the first phase of the deal.

He commented that the talks are "difficult and have yet to deliver any significant progress," but noted that mediators are working hard to close the gaps between the both parties.

Essential Matters in Talks

  • A lasting halt to fighting
  • The swap of the hostages still kept by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners from Gaza
  • The removal of military personnel from Gaza
  • Plans for assistance distribution
  • Future management of the region

Public Sentiment

In Tel Aviv's public square earlier, 29-year-old a woman - whose sibling endured the attack on the outdoor event, where 378 people were lost their lives and numerous more were taken hostage by Hamas gunmen - shared: "No place appears as home any longer and until every captive return none of us will feel safe."

"After we see everyone home again, we can breathe anew. Then we can commence recover," she continued.

Outside the leader's residence in Jerusalem, people assembled to show their backing for the relatives of the abducted. Israel reports forty-eight stay in captivity in Gaza, twenty of whom are thought to be surviving.

Protester a participant remarked: "We must do any agreement necessary for the captives to be released. But we really want guarantees that we will be secure."

Research now frequently demonstrate that about seventy percent of the population prefer the hostilities to end in as payment for the liberation of the captives.

Gaza Circumstances

At the site of Nova festival, grieving people assembled to honor the dead.

From that location, the noise of aerial bombardments and shelling could be detected just a brief space away in Gaza, where local people reported the intense Israeli bombardment continued.

In the main city, air and artillery strikes were noted in the dawn of that day in the west side neighborhood, Rimal and locality districts and in the eastern neighbourhood of the community, as well the camp to the north-west.

"Once the night falls, the dread appears with it," displaced Gaza City resident Emaan al-Wahidi, whose 17-year-old son was lost his life by an Israeli aerial attack earlier, shared.

"We are terrified of the attacks. During nighttime we are lying together, embracing, particularly my smallest child who places his face on me all night."

"Every second we look at the reports to see the situation. And I'm worried that this truce will not be achieved and that the conflict will come back to us."

Humanitarian Situation

The healthcare center in the urban area said it had taken in the bodies of half dozen people by the midday, including a trio who died in an Israeli strike in the southern district.

Nasser hospital in the south region of the city indicated additional dead people had been transported. A person was died by Israeli troops while attempting to get aid to the south region, medics reported.

The region's health ministry reported twenty-five of the {territ
