Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will branch out from the central cast to begin their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the actions of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could enable the team access areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them few options but to head to Timmony in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can anticipate learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
