The Streaming Giant Selects Perfect Actor for Bentham in the Hit Series Third Season

Baroque Works is poised to make a major impact in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the real showdown isn’t set to occur until the third season, and a adored, popular member has now been chosen.

The streaming service revealed this week that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Mr. 2. This character possesses the power to morph into an exact copy of any person they’ve touched with their right hand. Escola, who is non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will play a rendition of that character re-envisioned as non-binary, instead of as a drag artist, in the live-action series, as in the original manga and animated series.

This performer will work alongside a number of new cast members tasked with bringing the group to life, such as head Mr. 0, brought to life by the seasoned performer, a talented actress as another operative, and an accomplished actor, who also joins the lineup as the monarch of the fictional land.

Even though Bon Clay is a important part of Baroque Works, the individual won’t appear until One Piece the third season. Considering the second season expected to adapt the Little Garden segment, this signals a significant shift in the timing of their first appearance, one that could suggest further changes to the plot development.

Their mix of excellent comedic sense and emotional depth makes them a perfect fit for the character. In addition to their current animated role in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and numerous honors for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the adaptability they’ll add to one of One Piece’s most celebrated characters.

The platform’s adapted One Piece show is due to premiere for its next installment on March 10, 2026.
