Tom Clancy's The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG

The gritty world of Tom Clancy’s The Division is being translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to create a TTRPG that explores the series' apocalyptic setting. The project has been announced, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to launch in the spring of 2026.

"This endeavor will bring the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and iconic world-building to the tabletop, providing fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and player-driven missions," reads an official release.

Initial offerings will include a starter set, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, figurines, and various premium versions.

Delving Into The Division's Dystopian World

In this universe, a deadly virus called Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, sending the United States into turmoil. As the crisis escalates, society crumbles and violent factions rise, transforming the city into a warzone. To preserve order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of undercover operatives. This is where the agents enter the story.

Development on the RPG has been in progress for approximately three years, and it is reportedly complete. The upcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a preorder system to access a wider market, particularly in North America. Production will start immediately following the campaign, with shipping projected for the latter part of 2026.

A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System

A preview at the system confirms it uses d10s predominantly through its new GRIS system, promoting a fast-paced and strategic approach. Players use skills or traits to assemble a handful of dice, typically between one and five d10s.

  • Instead of summing the total, players choose a single “resolution die” from the pool.
  • This dice is then measured against a set challenge number.
  • Rolling a perfect 10 triggers special effects, such as increased harm or enhanced aid.

Combat Emphasize Positioning and Awareness

Battles prioritize positioning and environmental awareness, reflecting the source material. Elements like taking cover, height advantage, or visibility directly influence dice rolls. This mechanic seems built to favor coordination and clever tactics instead of simple statistics.

A Novel Health System

The way injuries is tracked introduces a interesting thematic twist. Operatives have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage weakens their effectiveness by lowering the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an operative is downed, but is not unconscious.
  2. They may still move and take limited actions, simulating the "downed" state common to many shooter games.
  3. Any player knocked down must roll on a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like shock or mobility-impairing wounds.

An Introductory Scenario

A publicly available Quickstart Guide will be released soon. It includes a ready-to-play introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group spearhead the hunt for a missing medical team and must thwart an assault by the violent Rikers gang, who have seized control of that Manhattan district. Further information and the complete product lineup will be unveiled closer to the Kickstarter start date.
