Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Real-time updates features live text of the weekend matchups via various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, radio commentary can be heard through designated networks covering another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six in the football calendar , after recent discussion regarding two top teams as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their perfect starts.

Notable in those games were the amount of penalties each conceded. The Eagles committed them in key moments meaning they essentially defeated themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the fourth period against the Denver Broncos, set to play overseas this Sunday.

However it proved positive to see that Denver quarterback the rookie managed to have that deficit before direct three successful possessions in three attempts during the final period, securing the victory by four points.

The Broncos boast the top defender with cornerback their star corner. They rank first in goal-line defense, while Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, and the Broncos prevailed in that contest.

They had effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They did not always sending extra defenders instead they could position two LBs in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel off the edge.

At the start in the campaign, we said during a show that the Broncos could be the current year's dark horses. They ended the previous year well and excelled in continuing that momentum.

Are the Denver Broncos this season's underdog story?

Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has stepped up big and recent RB JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He now ranks fifth league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (four).

I love how the coach the Broncos' leader has "RUN IT!" prominently on his call sheet.

That shows how Denver are a squad aiming to run first, since one can do a lot off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush while maintains in favourable situations.

It's also benefited quarterback Bo Nix, who came the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, passing for 29 touchdown passes – just behind Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).

Other elite QBs have the arm strength to pass anywhere, but they lack in the same way as Nix. He boasts exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, plus he's highly agile.

His strengths are his movement, the capacity to pass on the run, and finding different arm angles to make the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He is able to deliver precision throws across the middle or past defenders.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got a lot of composure in the pocket and isn't really fazed by the blitz. He aims to evade being tackled as much as possible and can throw under pressure. He has a high football IQ and is very decisive.

When you consistently rush it consumes time and makes the opponent to stay on the field extended periods, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defence has to defend the field vertically side to side. It can be draining.

The quarterback has pushed back at Payton on the sideline at times and I think Payton likes that fire, seeing him as a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for him to have a young quarterback who's kind of like play-dough. He can truly build something up the way he wants to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for the coach.

The head coach has won a championship and now surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. I think the success the Broncos are having on offence is largely down to his guidance, his play-calling, his game sense – and the pairing with the QB aids shape him into who he is.

You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to assist you during some of the tougher situations and build confidence.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. But are they good enough to go against an elite team at its best? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles last Sunday.

Right now, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're performing better than most, that's a good place to be in their division. The key to do to continue this trajectory.

They excel at leaning into their forte, which is the ground game, and that's precisely what they must do against the Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

The Jets have allowed 140 yards on the ground each contest (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team without a win a game.

Since the league started recording takeaways in 1933, this team are also the first team to go without any turnovers through five games, this is surprising when you think that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes stated Kansas City are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.

Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a manageable slate up to their bye (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders before the Chiefs.

In the AFC West, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could make a run at leading the West.

This hinges upon which form of the Chiefs they meet since the Broncos {beat|def
